Dr. Katherine Holshausen

As a clinical psychologist with a special interest in matters of the heart, my work centers on two main areas: helping individuals and couples navigate the complexities of relationships and emotional connection, and supporting clients—particularly first responders—in healing from the effects of trauma.

Much of my practice involves working with people feeling stuck in patterns of conflict, disconnection, or emotional distance. Whether they’re looking to rebuild trust, deepen intimacy, or develop a stronger relationship with themselves or others, I help clients explore how they connect, communicate, and repair in meaningful ways.

Alongside this, I specialize in trauma-focused therapy. This includes single-incident events as well as more complex, developmental, or relational trauma that often leaves a lasting impact on one’s sense of self, safety, and connection to others. Therapy offers a safe, intentional space to process these experiences and begin moving toward healing and empowerment.

At our core, we all long to be seen, understood, and accepted. When those needs are disrupted—by trauma or repeated relational hurt—it can leave behind invisible wounds that shape how we think, feel, and relate. Whether you’re working to repair a relationship, build emotional resilience, or process painful experiences from the past, therapy can support your journey forward.

I have extensive experience supporting clients through the messier, more emotionally demanding chapters of life—those moments for which few of us feel prepared. My approach is warm, relational, and grounded in curiosity, compassion, collaboration, and humour. I bring a blend of clinical expertise and genuine human connection to the work we do together. Life is complex, and if the answers were simple, you'd have found them by now. You're not alone. Let's figure it out, together.
